UNE plays Suffolk to scoreless draw

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's soccer team battled Suffolk to a 0-0 draw in Tuesday evening's Conference of New England matchup on Hazard Field.
 
The Nor'easters (9-3-3, 3-1-2) had two opportunities in the 85th minute with shots on goal from Kylie Curtin and Karley Belisle, but impressive saves by Arden Rose preserved the scoreless tie.
 
Total shots were nearly even – 11-10 – in favor of Suffolk (9-3-3, 3-1-2), and the Rams had a slight 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Haley Coombs made her second consecutive six-save shutout, having blanked Endicott on Saturday. Three of Coombs' saves in Tuesday evening's contest came in the game's final 20 minutes. The sophomore now has three shutouts on the season.
 
Both teams received one corner kick in the final five minutes, and the Rams eventually claimed a 5-3 advantage in that category.
 
UNE is lined up to visit Johnson & Wales on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
