DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols started fast and didn't look back in its 92-62 Saturday afternoon Conference of New England victory over the University of New England men's basketball team inside the Nichols Athletic Center.
Javen Flowers-Smith put up a game-high 29 points to pace the Bison (8-7, 5-3 CNE), who opened the game with a 14-0 run and never trailed. Simon Percy and Olivier St. Louis both added double-doubles.
Jack Pyzynski, who finished the game with 11 points, tallied the 1,000th point of his collegiate career with his first bucket of Saturday's game. Pyzynski's milestone also includes points scored at previous stops Southern Maine Community College (USCAA) and Franklin Pierce (NCAA Division II).
Adam Lux was the Nor'easters' leading scorer with 19 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double, while hitting three triples.
Jaelen Jackson was a third UNE player to score in double figures, finishing with 13.
Pyzynski's 1,000-point basket snapped Nichols' game-opening 14-0 run, and although UNE (5-10, 3-5 CNE) climbed within five (22-17) by the 8:15 mark of the first half thanks in part to Lux's perimeter shooting, they would face a 41-23 deficit at halftime.
Nichols' lead reached 20 for the first time early in the second half and UNE was unable to come any closer than 19 down the stretch.
With Saturday's game marking the last of back-to-back CNE road tests for the Nor'easters, they'll return home on Wednesday, Jan. 22 to host Wentworth at 7:30 p.m.
