UNE gets past Westfield, 3-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Kassidy Bradshaw had a career-best 12.3 assists/set and added four kills on five attempts to help the University of New England defeat Westfield State University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-23), at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 28).

The Nor'easters (10-3) held leads of 5-0, 15-5, and 21-11 on the way to taking the opening game, and were up almost the entire time in the 2nd, as well. Things got tight in the 3rd, though, with 13 ties and six lead-changes. UNE trailed 20-16 but captured nine of the next 12 to navigate to the finish of the straight-set win. Five different players combined for seven positive points in the closing span.

Ellijah Hanley and Hannah Nowell went for 12 and 11 kills, respectively (hitting .333 and .318), to pace the hosts on offense. Viktoria Pavlyuk tallied another 10 kills on a good chunk of Ka.Bradshaw's 37 assists. Kendall Gallaugher factored in five of the squad's eight blocks.

Defensively, Nowell had a team-high 11 digs. Kelsey Bradshaw wrapped up with 10 digs, to go with her three service aces.

On the side of Westfield (4-8), Emma Nihill had 12 kills and Morgan Dority put up 14 assists. Sydney Cummins posted 11 digs.
