DUDLEY, Mass. -- Nichols College scored all five goals in the second half to build on a two-goal cushion and record an 11-4 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win versus the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 6) at Vendetti Field.
After netting the first four scores of the day and holding a 5-2 edge through 15 minutes, the Bison saw
Sam McGregor pocket his third goal of the contest to pull UNE within 6-4 at the 9:32 mark of the 2nd quarter. It wasn't until 8:23 left in the 3rd before Colby Gillis added to the lead for the hosts.
Ryan Warner had a team-high three points for Nichols (7-5, 2-1 CCC), and was joined by Jack Ellis and Conor Doherty with two goals. Brady Morgan made eight saves, and Kyle Ettenhofer helped the defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
After McGregor for the Nor'easters (3-10, 0-4),
Shea Fogarty had the team's first tally at 1:57 of the 1st.
Ben Gowell won more than half of the faceoffs and scooped up five ground balls, and
Evan Hazard posted 14 saves between the pipes.
UNE is back at home on Wednesday (4 p.m.) to entertain No.18 Endicott College.
