MILTON, Mass. -- Seven different players registered multiple goals for the University of New England in a 22-4 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's lacrosse victory over Curry College on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 2) at Katz Field.
Winners of four in their last five, the Nor'easters improve to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in league play heading into a date at Nichols College this weekend.
Sydney Balotin factored in the first three tallies of the match on the way to a career-high seven points, which included a personal-best five goals. She also led all players with five ground balls, shared the game-high of four caused turnovers, and secured four draw controls.
Morgan White and
Meagan Donovan both supplied three goals and two assists, and White ran away with nine draws.
Abby McHallam and
Nicole DePodesta netted three goals apiece,
Barrie Guertin and
Molly Henderson each added a couple, and
Paige DeVries supported with three assists.
The UNE offense was cooking from right from the start, as Balotin, McHallam, White, and Donovan all had at least two scores by the 12:34 mark of the 2nd quarter, when it was 11-1 in favor of the visitors.
The Nor'easters finished with a 31-15 advantage in shots on target.
Jenna Trafford backstopped the win with eight saves during 45 minutes of action, and
Emma Thompson put up three stops the rest of the way.
For the Colonels (4-7, 0-2), Grayson Goolgasian had two goals and four draws. Ellie Hardman totaled five draw controls and four caused turnovers to go with one score. Alexa Puopolo recorded nine saves.
