SALEM, Mass. -- Six different players scored multiple goals as the University of New England cruised to a 17-4 women's lacrosse victory over Salem State University on Tuesday night (Mar. 19) at Alumni Field.
Winners of two straight, the Nor'easters (2-5) received three scores from both
Abby McHallam and
Sydney Balotin.
Meagan Donovan had a game-high five points, and her two goals were matched by
Barrie Guertin,
Morgan White, and
Emma Collingwood.
Donovan's second tally gave UNE the lead for good at 3-2 with 3:51 to go in the 1st quarter. Guertin got on the board next, and then Donovan fed McHallam for three in-a-row to make it 7-2 just over five minutes into the 2nd. White's second capped a run of nine unanswered goals (11-2) at 13:06 of the 3rd frame.
White corralled five draw controls, and Balotin recorded a team-best five ground balls. Guertin secured four draws and four ground balls.Â
Julia Baldwin supplied four caused turnovers and McHallam had three more.Â
Jenna Trafford picked up the goalkeeping decision with one save in 45 minutes of work, and
Emma Thompson made one stop in relief.
For the Vikings (1-6), Jenna Wells netted two goals. Aislinn Bennett had six draws and five ground balls. Nora Bradley totaled 10 saves.
The Nor'easters are back at home Saturday (1 p.m.) to take on Plymouth State University.
