Statistics

MESA, Ariz. -- Morgan White amassed six goals, nine draw controls, and four ground balls to power the University of New England women's lacrosse team to a 16-4 victory against the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 12) in a neutral match at the Arizona Athletic Grounds.

With her fourth goal at 5:52 of the 1st quarter, White notched her 100th career point (79 goals, 21 assists) to become the 21st player in program history to reach the milestone. The junior owns the 7th-best points/game rate of the group (2.76).

The Nor'easters (1-5) received strong support out of Meagan Donovan with four scores, and Sydney Balotin added a couple more. Micaela Jacobs and Kelsey Hartigan each scored one and assisted another, and Paige DeVries had a team-high two assists. Defensively, Elizabeth Guertin and Ashjan Abdulsalam both had three caused turnovers to help limit the action in front of goalie Jenna Trafford, who only needed to make two stops.

UNE posted a 47-12 advantage in shot attempts, to go with a 17-7 margin in draws and 36-27 in ground balls. Northwestern had 17 of its 36 turnovers forced by UNE, and only completed 16-of-35 clears against the Nor'easter ride.

White accounted for half of the offense in the opening period (8-1), while Donovan netted a pair of free-position shots and assisted on Balotin's first goal.

For the Eagles (2-3), Ainsley Thompson, Emma Snyder, Cara Smith, and Emma Ruegemer found the back of the cage once in each stanza. Smith also had three draws, Maren Reu registered four caused turnovers, and Reegan Duininck collected eight ground balls. In goal, Daisy Koffler supplied 15 saves and seven ground balls.

The Nor'easters return to New England and will visit Salem State University next Tuesday.
