KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The University of New England tallied all of its runs during the first three innings on the way to an 8-1 softball victory over Salem State University at The Spring Games on Sunday (Mar. 10).
The Nor'easters (1-1) received hits from nine different players and scored two in the 1st, two in the 2nd, and four in the 3rd to seize control.
Jaiden McKenna was the lone UNE batter with multiple hits, and
Becca Dumont joined McKenna in touching home plate twice. At the top of the lineup,
Hannah Irons and
Emma Michaud drove in three and two runs, respectively.

Mo Kinsella struck out nine for the win -- the most by a rookie since 2016, and one shy (tied for second) of the highest total in a first career start.
