BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Piper Desorcie netted a pair of goals and an empty-netter capped a 3-0 victory for the University of New England against visiting Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's ice hockey match on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Nor'easters (8-10-3, 7-4-3 CCC) complete the regular-season series versus the Colonels (9-10-2, 5-8-2) with two wins and a tie.

After a scoreless 1st period in which UNE posted a 16-5 edge in shots, it wasn't until 6:32 left in the 2nd before Desorcie got on the board. The hosts banked a pass off the right wall to clear the zone and allow Mia LaPlante to chase it down behind two Curry defenders, before a last-second crossing feed to Desorcie made for an easy finish on the left side [Watch]. Jamie DuPont was also credited with an assist on the play.

The Nor'easters had come up empty on their first four power plays but cashed in on the fifth with 4:29 remaining in the 3rd to make it 2-0. A shot from the right point by Eliana Kane was saved by Curry netminder Soleil Archambeault but the rebound bounced out in front and slipped over to Desorcie alone on the left side for a one-time finish inside the near post [Watch]. Desorcie tops UNE with nine goals and 14 points; one of her other two-goal performances also came against Curry back in November.

Another Colonels penalty with 1:55 on the clock put a pause on the idea of pulling the goalie, but when the shorthanded visitors managed to force UNE into a defensive faceoff, Archambeault went to the bench to even out the skaters on the ice. From a jam along the half-wall, LaPlante took two steps closer to her own blue line and fired it the rest of the way to seal it with 33.9 seconds to play [Watch]. DuPont and Kane picked up their second helpers of the day.

Delanie Corcoran backstopped the triumph with a 22-save shutout -- her third of the year. Hannah Humes, who added one assist, recorded a team-high three blocked shots for the Nor'easters.

Archambeault totaled 35 saves in the contest for Curry.

UNE is slated to visit No.12 and league-leading Endicott College on Friday.
