DUDLEY, Mass. -- Laney LeBlanc scored three times after halftime, as the University of New England pulled away from host Nichols College to take a 4-0 Conference of New England (CNE) victory Saturday afternoon (Oct. 5) at Vendetti Field.

Despite carrying play from the outset, the Nor'easters led by just a goal (1-0) at halftime. Francesca Caccamo got UNE on the scoreboard with 6:35 remaining in the second quarter with an unassisted goal. The Nor'easters held sizable advantages in both shots (17-2) and penalty corners (12-0) over the opening 30 minutes.

After the break LeBlanc took over, scoring her first goal of the afternoon with 11:25 elapsed in the third frame before notching a pair of fourth-quarter markers to put the game away. Lily Clough assisted on LeBlanc's first and third goals, while Shelly Tremblay set up the middle tally.

For the contest UNE led 26-3 in shots and 22-0 in corners. Goalkeeper Dawn DeWeese-Moss needed just one save to record her second shutout of the season. Her counterpart -- Sophia Venable -- turned aside nine shots for the Bison.

The Nor'easters, who evened both their overall (5-5) and CNE record (1-1),have less than 24 hours rest before they host six-time defending national champion Middlebury College tomorrow in a noon start at Blue Bolt Field.
