BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Four different players found the back on the net over the initial 17:07 for No.7 Babson College in a 5-1 decision against the University of New England in non-conference field hockey action Tuesday evening (Oct. 29) at MacDowell Field.
The Beavers (15-3) -- who were national semifinalists a year ago, and have now won 10 in-a-row -- had all 10 shot attempts and a 3-0 lead after the 1st quarter, with goals from Andrea Marguerite, Berit Sharrow, and Ellie Powers.
Caroline DiGiovanni scored early in the 2nd for the hosts, and Marguerite struck again as time expired in the 3rd to set the margin at five.
Makena Valentine, with an assist from
Shelly Tremblay, broke up the shutout bid in the 51st minute to get the Nor'easters (7-11) on the board with Valentine's fifth tally of the season.
Dawn DeWeese-Moss notched seven stops between the pipes for UNE, while
Micaela Jacobs added her 13th defensive save of the season. On the opposite end for Babson, Bayla Furmanek logged 51 minutes and turned in one save, as did Josie Ashton down the stretch.
The Nor'easters return home to entertain Gordon College on Saturday (12 p.m.) in the Conference of New England (CNE) regular-season finale.
