BIDDEFORD, Maine – The 14th-ranked Endicott Gulls rolled to a 39-7 victory over the University of New England football team on Saturday afternoon at Blue Storm Stadium, racking up nearly 300 yards on the ground while the Nor'easters mustered only a fourth-quarter touchdown to avoid a shutout in the Conference of New England opener.

The high-powered Endicott (5-1, 1-0 CNE) offense took a few drives to find its footing, but produced points on each of its final four drives of the first half to take a commanding 20-0 lead into halftime. UNE (2-4, 0-1 CNE) eventually got on the board early in the fourth quarter with Chris Lang's 15-yard touchdown pass to Berto Zepeda, capping off a seven-play, 98-yard drive highlighted by Damien Jones' 66-yard run.

The Gulls' dominant running game was powered by Michael Vecchione's 98 yards on six carries, though UNE's Jones bested him for a game-high 123 yards on the ground. Nathan Delgado received the bulk of the Nor'easters carries, toting it 16 times for 78 yards. Endicott's Clayton Marengi completed 11 of his 25 passing attempts for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while UNE's Chris Lang was 10-of-22 for 59 yards and a score.

The Nor'easters opening drive featured a chunk play with Jones taking a direct snap for 37 yards, but UNE was unable to maintain the rest of the drive once entering Endicott territory, and would be forced to punt on each of its remaining first-half possessions.

The Gulls' 99-yard touchdown drive, capped off by Marengi's 10-yard strike to Adam Goodfellow early in the second quarter, set the tone for Endicott's dominant stretch leading into halftime. After a UNE three-and-out, the Gulls were setup with a short field and settled for a field goal. Their next drive, following another Nor'easter punt, ended with Bryan Metayer's fourth-down touchdown run. Another Endicott field goal in the final seconds of the first half further solidified the Gulls' momentum entering the break.

With UNE kicking off to start the second half, Endicott embarked on another touchdown drive, including another touchdown grab from Goodfellow. Following UNE's lengthy touchdown drive that spanned the late minutes of the third quarter and opening moments of the fourth, Endicott's Charles Kennedy returned the ensuing kickoff 87 yards for a score. Kennedy would find pay dirt again late in the fourth quarter for the Gulls' final touchdown.

UNE is set to visit Nichols on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. and will return home the following week to host Curry at 1 p.m.
