BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England and Nichols College played to a 0-0 draw in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer matchup at Hazard Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Nor'easters (1-5-3, 0-0-2 CCC) had quick shots on goal by
Conor Lynch and
Luke Gould in the opening minutes and controlled play early on. Nichols answered with some offensive plays but neither team could find the back of the next.
The Bison (5-3-1, 1-0-1 CCC) picked up the pressure in the second half and were able to outshoot UNE 10-3 in the period.
Triston O'Hagan made five of his nine saves in the half and kept the visitors off the board with a few stops from close range. The Nor'easters best chance came in the 60
th minute when a strong shot by
Alex Woodworth just missed the low outside corner.
Derek Axon had three saves in goal for Nichols, all in the first half. Shots favored the Bison 17-8 on the afternoon.
UNE welcomes Fitchburg State to Hazard Field on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
