BOSTON, Mass. – Seventeen different players scored as the University of New England women's lacrosse team rolled to a 23-2 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Wentworth on Tuesday.
Five Nor'easters (8-3, 2-1 CCC) had multi-goal games, led by
Kimmy Staniar with three.
Sydney Balotin provided two goals and four assists.
Meagan Donovan had two goals and a helper while
Emily Jacobs, and
Lexi Delisle each scored twice.
Staniar scored two of her goals in the first quarter, including one with an assist by
Kelsey Hartigan with 12 seconds left to put UNE in front 11-1 and keep the clock running the rest of the day.
Hartigan,
Mollie Patenaude, and
Paige DeVries each had a tally in the second as the Nor'easters led 14-1 at the half. The Nor'easter lead would blossom to 21-1 after a goal by
Ella DiTomaso with 6:00 left in the game before the Leopards put another on the board.
Jenna Deschamps and
Ashjan Abdulsalam scored the final two goals for UNE.
Morgan White,
Keagan Dunbar, and Staniar led the defense with three caused turnovers each.
Emily Jacobs grabbed a game-high six draw controls to go with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Maria Turriza (2 saves) and
Kira Connors (1 save) each split a half in goal for UNE.
The Nor'easters are back at home on Saturday against Nichols at 1 p.m.
