SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – #2 Western New England University advanced in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Lacrosse Championship with a 24-9 victory over #7 University of New England in the quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon.

Sam McGregor got the Nor'easters off to a great start with his first of four goals on the day to put UNE in front early. Jack Houlden and Mike Bannon responded for the Golden Bears with goals just 1:09 apart to put the host in front.
Andrew Lawrence connected with
Collin Jackson for a score with 8:50 to play in the first to tie the game 2-2.
The high-scoring quarter continued with three straight goals by Western New England to take the lead for good. McGregor brought UNE back within one at 5-4 with 3:27 left in the quarter after back-to-back goals, including one with an assist by
Jordan White. Zachary Mein and Ben Kolb each put in a score down the stretch of the first to put WNE ahead 7-4 after a quarter.
The Golden Bears outscored UNE 10-1 in the second quarter to push the score out to 17-5 at halftime. Jack Houlden scored three goals in the second. Dylan Hanley scored twice and dished out five assists.
Shea Fogarty had the lone goal for the Nor'easters.
UNE had a 4-2 stretch during the third quarter and early fourth to trim the deficit to 19-9 with 13:01 to play. WNE scored the final five goals of the day.
