Nor’easters roll to 22-4 victory over Lions

NORTH QUINCY, Mass. – The University of New England men's lacrosse team won its fifth-straight game on Saturday defeating Eastern Nazarene College 22-4 in a non-conference matchup.
 
The Nor'easters (6-3) opened up a nine-goal lead in the first quarter and scored to the first of the second to jump ahead 10-0 in the opening minute of the quarter. Nikolai Markovich, Andrew Lawrence, and Sam McGregor each scored twice during the opening stretch. Lawrence also had three first-quarter assists.
 
Eastern Nazarene (0-5) responded with three-consecutive goals, two by Jamar Griggs to close the gap to 10-3 with 11:40 to go until halftime. UNE continued to pile it on with four more goals to end the second, including a goal and assist by Gavin Tanis to extend its lead to 14-3 at the half.
 
Finn McCoy and Joe O'Keefe added two goals each as part of a five-goal run to start the second and open it up to 19-3. Matt Carthorne found Griggs for a goal with 1:34 left in the third for the Lion's final goal.
 
Collin Jackson scored three for UNE in the fourth quarter.
 
Liam Simoneau made seven saves in his first action of the season in goal for UNE. Walter Stockwell had 15 saves for the Lions.
 
UNE returns to Blue Bolt Field to open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play against Curry on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
