BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's lacrosse team scored the first five goals of the game and never looked back on its way to a 16-4 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening at Blue Bolt Field.
Barrie Guertin led the Nor'easter offense with four goals and an assist.
Morgan White added three goals.
Abby McHallam and
Sydney Balotin each had two goals, while Balotin also contributed two assists.

Morgan White scored and found McHallam 42 seconds later as the Nor'easters extended their lead. Balotin and
Emily Jacobs rounded out the first-quarter scoring as UNE let 5-0.
Olivia Harriman got one back for Maine Maritime (3-2) to start the second quarter. Guertin and White increased the Nor'easter lead with their second goals of the game as the hosts jumped ahead 7-1 at the half.
The Mariners scored two of the first three goals of the second half to close the gap to 8-3 midway through the period.
Kimmy Staniar scored with the Nor'easters a player down at the 3:19 mark of the third.
Ann Chapman and White added two other shorthanded goals all within a span of just 29 seconds to put the Nor'easters ahead 11-3 through three quarters.
UNE tallied the first three goals of the fourth, two by Guertin, to keep the clock rolling. McHallam,
Jenna Deschamps, and
Halle Huizenga rounded out the Nor'easter offense.
The Nor'easters outshot the Mariners 33-15 overall and 27-10 on goal. UNE caused 13 turnovers, led by
Ashjan Abdulsalam with three on the night. Balotin grabbed a game-high 10 draw controls.
Keagan Dunbar picked up six ground balls.
Maria Turriza earned the victory between the pipes with six saves. Ella Bowes had 11 stops in the loss for Maine Maritime.
UNE is back at Blue Bolt Field on Saturday morning against Keene State at 10:30 a.m.
