KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The No.9 Bethel University softball team received a 14-strikeout effort from Kayla Simacek to support a 6-1 result against the University of New England at The Spring Games on Thursday (Mar. 16).
The nationally-ranked Royals (10-2) had nothing more than a single through three innings, but managed to build a 3-0 lead. The teams exchanged solo home runs in the 4th, off the bats of Cortney Hokanson for Bethel and
Grace Tutt of UNE. For Tutt, it was her second shot in as many games.
Bethel added a couple unearned runs in the 7th; only three of its scores came by way of an RBI.
Cat Higgins fanned four in the setback for the Nor'easters (2-6).
