BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England men's lacrosse team used a six-goal run in the third quarter to pull away from Plattsburgh State in a 15-10 victory at Blue Bolt Field on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan White had three of his game-high five goals during the run.
Colin Watt added three goals and an assist on the day.
Andrew Lawrence had a pair of goals and two assists.
UNE (3-3) got off to a quick start as it outscored the Cardinals 4-0 in the first quarter.
Shea Fogarty and Lawrence provided unassisted goals to put the Nor'easters ahead 2-0 at the 5:52 mark of the period.
Sam McGregor extended the lead with his first of two on the day.
Ryan Hazard, who finished with three assists and a goal, found White for a goal with 1:25 left in the period.
Plattsburgh State (2-2) answered with a strong start to the second quarte to tie the game. Logan Joes, John Eiseman, and Anthony Faber each scored about a minute apart to close the gap to 4-3 with 11:27 to go until halftime. Mike Walsh dished out one of his game-high five assists to Gustav Rugg for a man-up goal to tie the game at 4-4 at the 7:22 mark of the period. The Nor'easters grabbed the lead back as Hazard and McGregor scored just seven seconds apart.
Michael Swift scored twice as part of a three-goal run by the Cardinal to give them their only lead of the game at 7-6 with 3:06 to play until the half. Watt added a man-up goal to tie the game back up or the Nor'easters [

Eiseman knotted the game 8-8 with his second goal of the game in the opening minute of the third quarter. UNE took over from there as White and Watt scored under a minute apart to begin the run for the Nor'easters. White scored the next two to extend the lead to 12-8 with 3:45 left in the quarter. Lawrence assisted on a goal by Watt and then scored himself as the Nor'easters help a 14-8 lead late in the third.
The Cardinals got two back on goals by Eiseman and Walsh. Fogarty capped the victory with his second goal of the game with 5:41 to play.
UNE held a 41-39 advantage in shots and 26-19 on goal. The Nor'easters held the Cardinal to just a 1-for-9 mark on extra-man opportunities.
Cole Ventimiglia had four caused turnovers and two ground balls in his return to the field.
Todd Cravedi added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Ben Gowell won 14 face offs and had 10 ground balls.
Alex Thoms made nine saves in the victory and improved to 2-0 in net this season. Dan Clements had 11 stops for the Cardinals.
UNE will take on New England College in a neutral site matchup at Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse in Sparks Glencoe, Md. on Thursday at 4 p.m.
