BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England and Suffolk University played to a 2-2 tie in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's ice hockey matchup at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday evening.
The Nor'easters (7-10-3, 6-5-2 CCC) offense got going early as
Maeve Crehan dove to put back the rebound off a shot by
Lainie Lemieux at the 11:57 mark of the first period [

Abbi Charvat nudged the puck off a faceoff to
Avery Lutrzykowski who skated through the defense to score in the slot and put UNE ahead 2-0 with 7:52 to play in the first [

Miranda Gaudet poked in a loose puck in front of the net to cut the deficit in half for the Rams (13-5-2, 11-1-2 CCC) early in the second period. Jesse Kennedy and Liliana Moose helped on the goal.
The 2-1 lead for the hosts then held late into the third period before Cassidy Gruning scored on a 6-on-4 for Suffolk to knot the game with 1:55 to play. Shana Cote and Vaneesa Stuart provided assists on the tying goal.
Delanie Corcoran was peppered with shots in the overtime period but kept the game tied, as she made 11 saves in the extra session to finish with 52 stops on the night. Lily O'Neil had 16 saves for the Rams.
Off the three league outings that first-place Suffolk has not won, two of those have come against the Nor'easters.
UNE is back in action on the road tomorrow afternoon at Curry at 3 p.m.
