BIDDEFORD, Maine – #13 University of New England scored in each of the last two periods to pick up a 3-1 victory over Suffolk University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey matchup on Friday night.
Logan DiScanio gave the Nor'easters (14-5-1, 12-4-0 CCC) an early advantage as he scored a goal 5:24 into the night.
Anthony Sciucco and
Noah Szretter assisted on the score. The Rams tied it up in the final minute of the first as Troy Ladka found Kyle Valiquette for a goal with 54 seconds left before intermission.
The game remained tied until 3:35 left in the second period wen
Aidan Curran hit
Mike Tersoni for a goal to put UNE back in front for good.
Ryan Kuzmich made it a 3-1 game in favor of the Nor'easters 1:01 into the third with help from
Jake Fuss and
Alex Sheehy.
Joe Stanizzi earned his third victory in net this season with 33 saves for UNE. Jarret Bovarnick had 30 stops in the loss for Suffolk (6-12-2, 4-11-1 CCC).
The Nor'easters return home tomorrow night against #5 Curry at 7 p.m.
