Kasputis nets two as UNE advances over Curry, 3-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Keely Kasputis put fourth-seed University of New England in front in the opening minute and added another goal later in a 3-0 victory over fifth-seed Curry College in the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Ice Hockey Championship opening round on Wednesday at the Harold Alfond Forum.
 
The victory sends the Nor'easters (9-14-3) to a semifinal matchup at top-seeded Suffolk on Saturday at 4:50 p.m. [Interactive Bracket]
 
Abbi Charvat found Kasputis with backhanded pass in front of the net for the go-ahead finish just 47 seconds into the game. Carolyn Curley also assisted on the early goal [Watch]. The Nor'easters added to their lead at the 13:47 mark of the period, as Bella Crugnale intercepted a pass in the offensive zone and lifted it to the top corner to give UNE a 2-0 after the first. In the second, Kasputis took the puck the full length of the ice after a pass from Hannah Humes to score her second of the night 6:43 into the period to give Nor'easters a 3-0 lead. [Watch]
 
The UNE defense held strong the rest of the way and limited Curry to just 24 shots on the night. Delanie Corcoran earned her second shutout of the year between the pipes for the Nor'easters -- the first also came against the Colonels.
