EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Top-seeded Suffolk University defeated fourth-seed University of New England, 6-0, in the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Ice Hockey Championship semifinals on Saturday at Porrazzo Rink.
The Rams (17-7-2) will play for the conference championship next weekend at home against #2 Endicott, which shutout #3 Western New England, 2-0. [

Suffolk scored twice in the opening period. Sammy Lassman scored 6:07 into the game with help from Jenna Caballero. Lassman later found Caballero for a goal with 1:37 to play in the first.
The Rams pulled away with a four-goal second period. Elise Wainwright extended the lead to 3-0 with her first of two goals in the frame, and Taylor Nowak added to cushion with a goal midway through the frame. Wainwright at the 6:36 mark on the power play, and then Lassman with 2:09 to play, made the margin six. Lassman factored in four of the tallies, and Caballero was second on the team with three points in the contest.
Shots favored the hosts 63-18 on the day. Lily O'Neil earned the shutout in net with 18 saves for the Rams. For UNE,
Delanie Corcoran made 51 stops against five goals allowed, while
Kaleigh Laurendeau had six saves in seven minutes of action to wrap the second period.
The Nor'easters end the season with a record of 9-15-3.
