Statistics

DUDLEY, Mass. -- League-leading Nichols College logged a 104-80 result versus the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 11) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the NC Athletics Center.

The Bison keep their one-game margin atop the CCC standings, improving to 18-5 overall and 14-2 within the conference.

Nichols received a 28-point, 14-rebound, three-block performance out of Matthew Alectus. Quincy Ferebee added 23 points and Tilquan Rucker went for 20 points with four steals. Jakigh Dottin supplied 15 points, 12 boards, and eight assists. Nathaniel Duckworth chipped in with 10 helpers for the Bison, who knocked down 36-of-72 from the floor.

The hosts outscored UNE by nine behind the arc (24-15) and by 15 at the stripe (24-9) to represent the difference on the scoreboard. Nichols also had a 48-35 advantage on the glass, and made the most of 17 UNE turnovers, converting them into 26 points going the other way.

Zach Boulay surpassed his previous career high by nine on the way to 22 points for the Nor'easters (2-21, 0-16). After a personal-best 14 points and eight caroms from Ryan Lin, Sam McElliott notched 13 points and six assists. Zach Federico registered 10 points, and Adrian Torres contributed six assists along with four steals. The visitors shot 43 percent in the match (33-for-76).

UNE hung with the Bison for much of the 1st half, until a 13-2 burst in two minutes made 41-26. But while the spread hit 17 a few minutes later, the Nor'easters posted 11 of the last 12 in a span of 1:51 to close the gap back into single digits (48-41). Boulay finished off a three-point play and nailed a triple on back-to-back trips in the midst of the run.

The deficit reached 13 early in the 2nd, only to see the visitors net six in-a-row to keep things manageable (61-54). A 15-4 stretch then made it 76-58 with 10:22 to go; UNE did record the next seven, but the gap was too large.

The Nor'easters will wrap up their home schedule on Wednedsay (7:30 p.m.) against Curry College (2-14 CCC).
