BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Wesleyan University scored four times over the final 25 minutes to pull away to a 6-1 women's ice hockey decision versus the University of New England at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 9).

After Carolin Kee made it 3-1 with 4:21 left in the 2nd period, the Cardinals padded the cushion with three goals in a four-minute span down the stretch in the 3rd -- from Jenna Stevens, Jenna Rekoske, and Aimee Seppenwolde. For all three, it was their second points of the contest.

Dylan Green tallied the first two goals for Wesleyan (4-3-0) -- which never trailed -- and finished with four points on the day.

Down 1-0 at the 7:22 mark of the 1st, the Nor'easters (5-5-3) tied it up with the first collegiate goal by Amanda Forziati with less than seven minutes to go in the opening period. Eliana Kane carried down the left wall, below the red line, and flipped the puck through the crease just as Forziati was tripped onto the ice. Landing on her knees, she managed to one-time punch it over the goalie inside the right post [Watch]. Anna O'Neill was also credited with an assist on the play.

The score remained level at the 1st intermission, thanks to a glove save by Rei Halloran on a UNE break late in the stanza. Shots on goal favored the visitors, 7-5, during the initial 20 minutes; from there, the Cardinals amassed a 30-6 advantage.

Green restored the Wesleyan cushion 2:36 into the middle frame (2-1).

Halloran had 10 stops between the pipes for the Cardinals, while Kaleigh Laurendeau totaled 29 for UNE in just under 58 minutes.

Kelly McCarthy and Mackenzie O'Leary each blocked four shots for the Nor'easters, who are off until a January 2 game at the University of Southern Maine. The Huskies began the season with a 2-1 win at UNE.
