EAST BOSTON, Mass. --
Hannah Humes scored both goals for the University of New England women's ice hockey team, including the game-winner midway through the final period, as the Nor'easters knocked off defending Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Suffolk University, 2-1, Saturday evening (Dec. 2) at Porrazzo Rink.
The win improved the Nor'easters overall mark to 5-3-3 and 4-1-3 in conference play. Suffolk dropped to 3-8-1, 2-5-1 in CCC games.
With UNE down a skater, Humes converted on a breakaway at 11:34 of the third period to provide the margin for victory. The tally was Humes' third of the season.
Humes was responsible for giving the Nor'easters a 1-0 advantage in the first period.
Anna O'Neill caused a turnover in the Suffolk zone before Humes picked up the puck and converted a shot from the left circle.
Suffolk drew even less than a minute into the middle frame when Jenna Newkirk finished a feed from Jenna Caballero.

Delanie Corcoran had a strong game between the pipes, earning the victory with 34 stops. Lily O'Neil totaled 19 stops for the Games.
The Nor'easters return to action Tuesday (Dec. 5) when they host Colby College for a non-conference game starting at 7:00 p.m.
