WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Five different players scored as No.11 University of New England rattled off six unanswered goals to defeat Western New England University, 6-1, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey opener at the Olympia Ice Center on Friday night (Nov. 3).

The Golden Bears struck first with 5:33 gone on the tally from Brayden Patricia, but the lead only lasted until the 7:08 mark when UNE got on the board with a power-play goal by defenseman Chip Hamlett, Anthony Sciucco and Juraj Elias assisted on the play.

Graduate transfer Anthony Cinato gave the visitors the advantage ahead of the midway point (9:30) in the 1st period, with a helper going to Dominic Murphy. Murphy also assisted went to margin grew to 3-1 with 3.2 seconds remaining in the frame, as defenseman Kevin O'Keefe found the back of the net.

Nathan Chickering provided all the offense in the 2nd stanza, increasing the spread to 5-1 with goals at 13:07 and 17:46. Sciucco joined the list of goal scorers at 4:10 of the 3rd period on the power play, and Elias notched his second assist of the night at that moment.

Between the pipes for the Nor'easters (1-1, 1-0 CCC), Billy Girard IV registered 15 saves. Andrew LoRusso was kept busy on the Western New England end of things, and finished with 44 stops.

The Golden Bears (1-2, 0-1) come into the Forum for UNE's first home outing on Saturday night (7 p.m.).
