BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Hannah Berkowitz scored with 1:18 remaining in regulation to lift Curry College to a 3-3 tie with the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's ice hockey game played Saturday evening (Nov. 11) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

After a scoreless five-minute overtime period, the contest was extended to a shootout in what is a new CCC procedure. Danielle Reid of Curry was the lone player to convert in the three-round shootout.

The Nor'easters jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage. Jamie DuPont notched an unassisted short-handed goal less than three minutes into the contest to get UNE on the scoreboard [Watch]. The lead was doubled at 5:47 of the first when Jamie Ryan notched her first collegiate goal on a wrist-shot from the left circle [Watch]. Anna O'Neill and Lainie Lemieux were credited with assists on the power-play tally.

Curry answered with consecutive goals in a span of 0:48 early in the second to even the ledger. Berkowitz tallied her first of two goals to slice the deficit in half, then Grayson Goolgasian did the honors at the 3:32 mark.

UNE once again converted on the power play to regain the advantage when Eliana Kane slipped a low shot through the five-hole at the midway point of the second period [Watch]. DuPont and Hannah Humes set up the play. It would appear that goal would be the game-winner until Berkowitz rescued the Colonels in the closing stages of regulation.

Both goaltenders offered strong performances. Soleil Archambeault finished with 38 saves for Curry (2-3-1, 0-1-1 CCC), including seven during the five-minute overtime period. Delanie Corcoran came up with 34 stops for the Nor'easters (3-2-1, 2-1-1), who host Salve Regina University next Friday (Nov. 17) at 7:00 p.m.
