BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Goals less than six minutes apart during the early stages of the 2nd half lifted Suffolk University to a 2-0 result against the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

After a tightly-contested opening 45 minutes, the Rams (9-4-2, 4-1-1 CCC) broke onto the scoreboard in the 54th minute when Matthew Belluardo flicked a header off the left post and in. Tommy Handelsman delivered the ball into the box with a throw-in from the right wing.

The cushion doubled in the 59th minute, as Belluardo settled a bouncing ball deep in the box and Brady Sorensen stretched to nudge it into the net before defenders collapsed on the play.

Xander Balog made a couple stops in goal for the visitors, while Sean McCarthy turned in six saves on the UNE side.

The Nor'easters (1-10-5, 0-4-2) travel to Curry College on Friday.
