BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Micaela Jacobs found a rebound at the left post and wasted no time flicking it into the back of the net with 27 seconds remaining in double overtime as the University of New England stayed unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 3-2 field hockey win over Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 14) at Blue Bolt Field.

Jacobs started the deciding play with a penalty corner insert, and, after UNE's initial chance was turned away, Jacobs was there to deposit her first goal of the season [Watch].

The Nor'easters (7-8, 3-0 CCC) have now won four straight outings, with three of those ending in OT or 2OT. UNE has been victorious in each of the 20 all-time meetings with the Hawks (11-3, 3-1), who fall a half game behind in the league standings.

The last seven times UNE has played a game beyond regulation, Big Blue has come out on top.

The hosts never trailed in the match, thanks, in part, to Jacobs on the other end of the field, registering a defensive save in the 24th minute. Things were scoreless at halftime, and then the Nor'easters notched one in the 34th minute when Morgan Mast finished a bouncing ball at the left post [Watch].

Still down 1-0 entering the 4th quarter, Roger Williams ramped up the pressure. Dawn DeWeese-Moss raised her save total to five with a couple stops in the early moments of the frame, but the Hawks finally solved UNE's back line in the 52nd minute when Hannah Timbrouck converted a pass from Chelsea King. Just over two minutes later, King had a look to take the lead after dribbling around DeWeese-Moss in transition, but Shelly Tremblay swooped in for a defensive save.

In the moments that followed, the Nor'easters had a nice sequence of passes up the left side, culminating in Mast springing Madi Robito for a race into the circle and a backhanded shot that snuck through for a 2-1 edge [Watch].

Another UNE defensive save, this time by Lauren Green, helped maintain the cushion in 59th minute, only to have a penalty stroke whistled seconds later. RWU sent Elizabeth Duquette to the spot, who rammed it off the back-left post to tie the score with 70 ticks on the clock.

The Hawks had three corners and three shots that were blocked during the first bonus session; UNE had one shot saved and a corner. The Nor'easters flipped the script in double overtime, securing all three corners and posting a 6-1 margin in shots. Overall, total attempts favored Roger Williams, 18-10, as did corners, 10-5.

Opposite of DeWeese-Moss for the majority of the day, Jill Haudenshield collected five saves between the first-half action and the overtime periods for the Hawks.

With the five game homestand now complete, the Nor'easters hit the road next Saturday for a conference contest with Gordon College (0-2 CCC).
