WNE gets past UNE, 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.  – Western New England University earned a 2-0 victory over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer matchup on Sunday afternoon at Suprenant Field.
 
The Golden Bears got off to a quick start at Malik Serisser lofted a pass into the box and Roger Leland headed it home for a goal in the opening minute of action. The 1-0 advantage would stay until halftime.
 
Triston O'Hagan made a save on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute but Mike Milazzo was there to control his own rebound and buried his second shot to extend the WNE lead to a 2-0.
 
The Golden Bears outshot the Nor'easters 23-4 on the day and 9-3 on goal. O'Hagan had six saves to start the game. Sean McCarthy made a stop in goal for UNE over the final 23:00 of action. Braylon Casinghino had a three-save shutout for WNE.
 
UNE returns to the field at Massachusetts Maritime on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
