WESTFIELD, Mass. – Six different players scored as the University of New England women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Mount Holyoke on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Owls Kickoff Classic hosted by Westfield State University.
The Nor'easters scored three goals within in a span of 6:10 in the first half to take control of the game.
Tori Keyes scored from the penalty spot after a cross from
Lizzie Frattaroli to put UNE in front in the 13
th minute. A turnover in the 17
th minute led to an unassisted goal by
Emily Martin. Just over two minutes later, Martin fed a through pass to Frattaroli who scored to make it 3-0.
Olivia King scored to the low left post in the 27
th minute to add to the advantage.
Karley Belisle made it 5-0 Nor'easters at the half as she scored with help from
Morgan Diefenbach.
Katie Rokes buried a goal to the top-left of the far post for the sixth UNE goal of the game in the 77
th minute.
Amy Hatfield provided an assist on the final goal.
Sydney Gillingham made two saves in goal over the opening 45 minutes of play.
Claudia Kenneway was untested in net in the second half. UNE outshot Mount Holyoke 22-4 on the afternoon.
Martin and
Riley Dunphy were each named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts over the weekend.
The Nor'easters return to action on Saturday on the road at Southern Maine at 3 p.m.
