WESTFIELD, Mass. – Springfield College defeated the University of New England 2-0 in women's soccer action at the Owls Kickoff Classic hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Pride got on the board in the 20^th minute as Kaleigh Dale found Kaitlyn Suller with a through pass. Suller scored to the top-left corner to them ahead 1-0. Kristina Kyle extended the lead for Springfield to 2-0 in the 24^th minute.
 
Shots favored the Pride 33-10 on the afternoon. Taryn Ryan made five saves in the shutout victory. Anna Flaherty had nine stops in the first half for UNE. Sydney Gillingham held Springfield scoreless in the second half and had seven saves.
 
The Nor'easters finish the Kickoff Classic tomorrow afternoon against Mount Holyoke at 12 p.m.
