BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Jackie Hill and Casey Winslow each had a goal and an assist as Colby College picked up a 3-1 decision against the University of New England field hockey squad on Wednesday night (Sep. 14) at Blue Bolt Field.

Winslow slipped a no-look pass to Hill for the game's first tally in the 8th minute, and that remained the difference at the half. Chances were limited on both ends during the initial 30 minutes, with just six combined shots (Colby 4-2) and three penalty corners (UNE 2-1).

Things opened up a bit in the 3rd quarter, with four attempts each way. The Mules made good on two of those; first, Winslow lined up a glancing rebound off a try by Hill in the 41st minute, and then Hill fed Lily Harrington for a one-timer near the left post in the 45th.

The Nor'easters put a dent in the 3-0 deficit with 5:30 to go, as Shelly Tremblay flipped one over the goalie for her first collegiate score. Lily Clough setup the shot, receiving the corner insert at the top of the arc and sending it to her left.

Emily Loeb needed to make just one save to backstop the result for Colby (2-1), which ended with an 8-7 edge in total shots. The Nor'easters (1-4), who had five of the game's six corners, received two saves in 42 minutes from Lindsay Pych.

UNE will hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) slate begins at Nichols College.
