WORCESTER, Mass. -- Worcester State University battled back after dropping the initial set to top the University of New England by a 3-1 spread (15-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-20) in women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon (Sep. 10).
After the Nor'easters (1-5) controlled the opening frame, the Lancers (1-6) used a 7-0 run in the middle of the 2nd to separate and tie up the match. Things went right down to the wire in the 3rd, and a couple of late UNE errors gave the edge to the hosts. Worcester State booked a 9-1 stretch in the 4th to go up by 10 (18-8), but saw the cushion sliced all the way to three before closing out the contest.
Camryn Burgio paced the Lancers with 12 kills, and Erin Gaffney added seven. Burgio also racked up 22 digs. Angela Colonis led the squad with 14 assists and four aces.
For UNE,
Lauren Davenport bested all players with 16 kills, and
Viktoria Pavlyuk notched 10.
Addie Miller produced a double-double of 28 assists and 13 digs, to go with four kills.Â

Mina Regnery patroled the back line with 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Nor'easters visit Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Thursday.
