Dimmick gets CoSIDA Academic All-District® nod in track & field

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England sprinter Erica Dimmick has been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as part of the 2021-22 Academic All-District® Division III Women's Track & Field / Cross Country District 1 First Team, as it was released on Thursday (May 26).

The award highlights the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.

Dimmick led the Nor'easters by registered four All-Commonwealth Coast Conference finishes at the most recent league championship, bringing her two-year career total with the new program up to six. In 2022, the senior earned first team as the anchor legs in the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay, second team in the 800-meter, and third team in the 400-meter. Both relays also qualified for the New England Championships.

She graduated summa cum laude last week with a bachelor's degree in animal behavior and minor in mental health rehabilitation. Dimmick has been recognized academically as an inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and Psi Chi Honor Society, as a member of CCC Academic All-Conference Team, and on UNE's Dean's List. At the University's Biddeford Campus Undergraduate Awards Ceremony, she received the Outstanding Student Award for her major.

First Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Academic All-America® ballot, with those teams announced in June.

In early May, Dimmick became the first UNE student-athlete on-record to claim the Athletics Department's Female Athlete of the Year and Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards in the same campaign. The Sutton, Mass. native was a two-time all-conference performer, and once all-region, out of three seasons with competition in women's soccer, which contributed to her first recognition by CoSIDA in November. Dimmick also played three years of basketball, making the rare three-sport student-athlete.

Dimmick's two CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors bring the Nor'easter total to 14 since the 2014-15. [CoSIDA AAA History]
