UNE women place 3rd in CCC All-Sports Trophy standings; men 8th

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England completed the 2021-22 academic year as the 3rd-ranked institution on the women's side of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Sports Trophy, out of the 10 members. For the men, the Nor'easters were eighth.

Endicott College claimed the women's title with a record score of 9.30, topping Roger Williams University (7.61), UNE (7.11), and Suffolk University (6.69). The Nor'easters sponsor nine of the league's 10 sports, and had three programs finish as runner-up in the conference championship -- cross country, field hockey, and ice hockey.

In the seven years of the trophy's existence, the UNE women have either placed second (three times) or third (four times).

The conference all-sports trophy was introduced in 2013-14 and is awarded annually to the institution that performs the best across the board in league competition. Points are awarded based on CCC tournament championships (10 points) and tournament runner-up finishes (9 points), followed by the regular-season position (8 points, etc.) in the standings for the remaining teams. The totals are then averaged out against the number of CCC sports sponsored by an institution.
