Darcy, Swallow recognized by New England Hockey Writers

BOSTON -- University of New England men's ice hockey senior defenseman Liam Darcy and head coach Kevin Swallow have been honored by the New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA), as the 2021-22 season awards were announced on Wednesday (Apr. 27).

Darcy landed All-Star status on the regional squad, adding to his Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first team nod back in February.

Swallow was named as the region's Coach of the Year -- backing up his first CCC Coach of the Year honor while at UNE. He was also runner-up for the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Division III Coach of the Year.

The Nor'easters posted a program-record 23-4-1 mark during the 2021-22 campaign, on the way to the University's first-ever national semifinals appearance and the No.5 ranking in the final U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Top 15 Poll. UNE captured the CCC regular-season crown and tournament title en route to the NCAA Championship.
