DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College defeated the University of New England, 8-5, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse action at Venditti Field on Saturday afternoon.
Hunter Ferriera scored two of his game-high four goals as Nichols built a 2-0 lead at the 4:29 mark of the first quarter.

Colin Watt for a man-up goal to close the gap to 2-1 for the Nor'easters after a period.
Jordan White added another extra-man goal for UNE to start the second quarter and tie the game. The sides traded goals for the remainder of the half as Ryan Warner answered for the Bison with 9:16 to play to put the host back in front. White found Watt at the 7:24 mark to tie it up one again before Warner scored in the closing seconds to give Nichols a 4-3 advantage at the half.
Ferriera extended the lead to 5-3 early in the third quarter.
Colin Watt brought the Nor'easters within one at 5-4 with 2:36 to play in the third, but UNE would never get closer. Colby Gillis assisted on his fourth goal of the day, connecting with Cian Keohane with three seconds left in the period to make it 6-4 in favor of Nichols.
Keohane scored another early in the fourth quarter. White cut the deficit to 7-5 for UNE with 10:28 to play in the game. Ferreira added a man-up goal at the 8:32 mark of the fourth to complete to scoring for the Bison.
Brady Morgan stopped 16-of-21 shots he faced in net for Nichols to earn the victory.
Kyle Prior made 14 saves in the loss, his first start in goal this season. Scott Ehrenberg was 15-for-16 in the face-off circle for the Bison who improve to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in CCC play. UNE stands at 5-10 and 1-5 in league play.
The Nor'easters return home for the final time this season on Saturday against Roger Williams at 1 p.m.
