BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Boston picked up a 19-7 victory over the University of New England in non-conference men's lacrosse action at James Cotter Field on Saturday afternoon.
Eight different Beacons scored as they took control early and pulled out to a 10-0 lead by the 5:39 mark of the second quarter. Greg Wolff and Garvin Admirand each had two goals early on.
Ryan Hazard and
Alden Balboni put the Nor'easters on the board with goals just 30 seconds apart as they closed the gap to 10-2 with 2:13 to play until the half. Darragh Fahey answered for UMass Boston and the hosts led 11-2 at the break.
The Beacons led 15-3 after three quarters. The fourth quarter was even with each team scoring four times.
Colin Watt scored two goals for UNE in the period.
Shots favored UMass Boston 52-22 on the day. The Nor'easters held a 38-32 advantage in ground balls led by
Matt DeSimone with six.
UNE returns to action at home on Tuesday afternoon against New England College at 1 p.m.
