BIDDEFORD, Maine – The #10 University of New England earned a 5-0 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey clash on Tuesday night.
Austin Morgan scored twice and
Billy Girard IV picked up his first shutout for the Nor'easters, who improve to 11-3-1 overall and 10-3-1 in conference play.
After a scoreless first period, UNE scored three times in a span of 6:50 early in the second period to put the game out of reach.
Tyler Seltenreich blasted home a one-timer off a pass from
Jared Christy to start the scoring 2:05 into the period

Christy wove through the defense to help setup the second goal. He found
Jake Fuss who quickly dished it off to Morgan for his first of the night at the 13:48 mark of the second
[Watch]. Justin Dixon made it 3-0 in favor of the Nor'easters following a scramble in front of the net, as he backhanded in a rebound off a shot by
Donte' DiPonio [Watch].
Chris Jones scored with a blast from the slot to extend the lead to 4-0 early in the third
[Watch]. Morgan put in his second of the game with 6:59 to play
[Watch].
Seltenreich and Fuss also added two assists each. Fuss has had helpers in each of the last four games, totaling nine during that span. He leads the conference in assists (17) and is tied for the lead in points (23).
Girard made 19 saves in the victory. Will Oliver had 31 stops in the loss for the Leopards (4-13-2, 3-12-1 CCC).
UNE returns to action on Friday night at home against Endicott at 7 p.m.
