BIDDEFORD, Maine – Ryan Kuzmich and
Daniel Winslow each recorded a goal and assist as the University of New England men's ice hockey earned a 4-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon in Porrazzo Rink.
Cole Scott put the hosts on the board first with help from Ryan Harrigan just 3:44 into the action, but
Garrett Devine answered for the Nor'easters on the power play to tie the game just over two minutes later. Winslow and
Jake Fuss assisted on the score. Kuzmich made it 2-1 in favor of UNE with 7:52 to play in the first period, with the help of
Will Spitzer and
Aidan Curran on the go-ahead goal.
Fuss found
Mike Tersoni for his first career goal early in the second period to extend the Nor'easters' lead to 3-1. Winslow added a power-play goal with help from Kuzmich and
Anthony Sciucco at the 11:22 mark of the frame. The Rams got one back from Tyler Broys with 3:13 left in the second period.
Billy Girard IV made 22 saves to earn the victory in goal for the Nor'easters (6-3-0, 6-2-0 CCC), who had a seven-shot edge on the day. Jarret Bovarnick had 27 stops for Suffolk (1-7-1, 1-7-0 CCC).
UNE returns to the ice at home next Saturday against Wentworth at 7 p.m.
