Golden Bears shoot past Nor'easters in CCC action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Western New England University connected at a 57.9 percent clip on the way to an 86-53 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball result versus the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3) at the AHL Center.

The Golden Bears (5-2, 2-0 CCC) were powered by 22 points by Tim Restall, who also collected nine rebounds and three blocks. Max Jones and Mike Resnick combined evenly for six treys, exceeding the UNE total (5), and tallied 11 points apiece in support. Jake Harrison wrapped up two points shy of a triple-double, scoring eight to go with 10 assists and a game-high 10 rebounds.

In addition to making 33-of-57 field goals, WNEU held a 39-23 advantage on the glass. The Golden Bears led from the start and owned a 44-27 edge on the scoreboard at the half.

For the Nor'easters (2-7, 0-2 CCC), Ant Moynihan drained 3-of-4 from deep and posted 13 points. Drake Gavin and Ray Evans both added 11 points. Contrary to the hosts, the visiting squad sank just 33 percent of their 60 attempts from the floor.

UNE returns home to face Endicott College on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.).
