Three Nor’easters post two goals in 6-2 victory over Seahawks

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The University of New England women's ice hockey team scored six unanswered goals after trailing early on its way to a 6-2 victory over Salve Regina University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Friday night.
 
Three Nor'easters had multi-goal games, led by Avery Lutrzykowski who had two goals and two assists. Maeve Crehan and Lainie Lemieux also scored twice in the victory, as UNE improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
 
Riley Esposito connected with Emily Wagner who scored to put the Seahawks ahead 1:13 into the night. Lemieux tied the game midway through the period with her first-career goal; Emily Long and Bella Crugnale added assists.
 
Lutrzykowski scored twice to start the second period for the Nor'easters. Her first goal was with help from Piper Desorcie and McKenna Remillard, while the second was unassisted, as UNE led 3-1 at the 13:01 mark. Lutrzykowski later found Lemieux for her second goal to give the Nor'easters a 4-1 lead after two.
 
Crehan extended the lead 1:37 into the third period, off assists from Jamie DuPont and Abbi Charvat. The Nor'easters then went in front 6-1 with 12:30 to play as Crehan then out-hustled a Seahawk defender and stuffed in her second of the night, with assists to Lutrzykowski and Remillard. Jennifer Rickard added a late marker for Salve Regina.
 
Delanie Corcoran stopped 26 shots in the victory for UNE. Ellee Kopecky allowed the first four goals for the Seahawks and made 11 saves. Sydney Baxter stopped four shots in relief.

The win marked the 100th for head coach David Venditti while at UNE.
 
Both teams return to the ice at the Harold Alfond Forum tomorrow at 5 p.m.
