FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine-Farmington closed the 1st half on a 30-8 run, powering an 84-61 result against the University of New England men's basketball team at Dearborn Gymnasium on Wednesday evening (Nov. 16).

It was the season-opener for the Beavers, who received a game-high 19 points out of Zachary Mickle. Terion Moss supplied 17 points, a match-best 10 rebounds, and four assists, while Jack Kane tacked on nine points and recorded four blocks.

The hosts shot 62 percent (18-of-29) from the floor prior to the midway break, when the margin stood at 47-22. For the contest, UMF connected on more than half of its 58 field goal attempts, and out-scored UNE by nine (18-9) at the charity stripe.

The Nor'easters overcame a slow start of just three points through five minutes to then trail 17-14 with 11:27 left in the initial period. But the visitors only hit 8-of-33 (24%) during the opening 20 minutes to fall behind.

UNE (1-3) got 11 points from Ray Evans, 10 out of Ant Moynihan, and nine from the hands of Winston Bryan.

The Nor'easters will be back in Biddeford on Saturday (3 p.m.) to entertain Maine Maritime Academy.
