Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team scored twice less than a minute apart early in the second period on its way to a 2-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in its season opener on Friday evening at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Keely Kasputis put in her own rebound 2:53 into the second period for the Nor'easters first goal of the game [Watch]. O'Neill helped setup the goal as she found Kasputis at center ice ahead of the defense with a long pass. Courtney Himes also assisted on the goal.

Only 49 seconds later, Meghan Hamilton skated around the back of the goal and fed an open McKenna Remillard in front for a score to put UNE ahead 2-0 [Watch]. The Huskies cut the lead in half at the 9:31 mark of the second as Sydnee Chaisson found Madison Chagnon for a goal.

Delanie Corcoran stopped all six shots she faced in the third period and made 28 saves on the night to backstop the Nor'easters victory. Haley McKim had 22 saves for the Huskies.

UNE visits Western New England next Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. to begin Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
