BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Madi Robito registered a 49th-minute goal to provide the University of New England field hockey team with a crucial 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over fellow unbeaten Endicott College at Blue Blue Field on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22).
With the win, the Nor'easters (9-8) lock up the league's top seed for the upcoming championship by posting a perfect 6-0 CCC mark for the second straight season. The Gulls (12-3), who dropped a contest for the first time in almost seven weeks after nearly reaching the latest national top 20 poll, settle back at 4-1 in the CCC and will be the second seed.
Strong defenses dominated most the day, as a combined eight shots were put on goal during the match. Endicott did better a limiting UNE chances early on, and had the edge in shots (7-1) and penalty corners (6-1) at the break. While the Nor'easters leveled things out a bit in the 3rd, maybe the best scoring chance for the Gulls came in the 38th minute, when Olivia Lampasona intercepted a pass between UNE's last defenders, in-stride, only to pull the shot well wide.
The third corner of the game for the hosts proved to be the difference, as a string of five passes had
Sarah Padellaro on the right side hitting into a crowd in front. Robito redirected it home from there, notching her eighth tally of the year.

Lindsay Pych made five saves for her third shutout in the Nor'easter net. The UNE back line did its part, as well, blocking seven other shot attempts by Endicott, and negating several threatening moments beyond that.
Brianna Anslow turned in a couple stops for the Gulls.
The Nor'easters will conclude the regular season on Wednesday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
