Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The #25 Endicott College football team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 43-0 victory over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at Blue Storm Stadium on Saturday.

The Gulls defense was stellar all game and held the Nor'easters to just 168 total yards while forcing five fumbles (four lost) and amassing 10 sacks.

Clayton Marengi was 11-of-18 through the air for 176 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 67-yard touchdown run. His favorite target was Anthony Bracamonte who caught seven passes for 77 yards. Jonas Wiechmann made the most of his one catch, taking it 62 yards for a touchdown. Anthony Caggianelli had 80 yards and score on the ground.

Ryan Smith made one of his two field goals on the day from 34-yards out to give Endicott at 3-0 lead after its first drive. After a turnover-on-downs by the Nor'easters in Gulls territory, Marengi found Wiechmann for a 62-yard touchdown as the visitors took at 10-0 lead after a quarter.

UNE was forced to punt from its own end zone early in the second quarter but a bad snap led to a safety as the Gulls extended their lead to 12-0. The Nor'easters punted on their next drive. UNE looked to have stopped Endicott on its own 11-yard line during the next possession, but a penalty gave the Gulls new lift. Three plays later, Marengi burst out a 67-yard touchdown run to make it 19-0.

Endicott scored twice more in the final minutes of the first half. Caggianelli rushed for a 65-yard touchdown with 2:07 to play. Colin Meropoulis picked up a fumble after a sack by Jackson DeAngelo and returned it 23-yards for a score to make it 33-0 at the break.

Another sack fumble led to a 36-yard field goal by Smith early in the third quarter. The UNE offense put one of its best drives together on its next possession. Jarrett Henault hit Shane LaPorte for a 16-yard pass to convert on a third down. A pass interference penalty on the next play put the Nor'easters on the Endicott side of the field. Todd Cravedi pulled down an 11-yard catch to the 31-yard line. The Nor'easters made it down to the 27-yard line before a sack on fourth down ended the dive.

A 35-yard catch by Everett Knowlton III followed by a 21-yard rush by Yavier Cosme-Diaz setup the Gulls deep in UNE territory. Cosme-Diaz finished the drive with a one-yard touchdown to extend the lad to 43-0 with 4:42 to play in the third.
Jaymeson Maheux blocked an Endicott punt and Zack Beauvais returned it for 10 yards down to the Gulls 15-yard line to start the fourth. UNE was unable to put points on the board as the field goal attempt by Robert Inniss Jr. went wide. The Gulls forced two more Nor'easter fumbles in the final quarter.

Offensively for UNE, Henault finished with 79 yards through the air. Cravedi had two catches for 21 yards and LaPorte also had a pair of catches for 20 yards. Eugene Jordan had 35 yards rushing.

DeAngelo led the Gulls with 10 tackles (six solo), two for a loss, and a sack. Hector Johnson was disruptive in the backfield with 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Coilin Campbell had seven tackles (five solo) one sack, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery.

Mike Lemay and Dom Pedi each had six tackles and four solo stops to lead UNE. Pedi also added a tackle for a loss. Antonio Giano finished with five total tackles.

The Nor'easters are at home for the final time next Saturday against Salve Regina at 1 p.m.
