Leopards edge Nor’easters, 2-1

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology score two goals under a minute apart in the first half in a 2-1 victory over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Wednesday night.
 
The loss was the sixth one-goal defeat for the Nor'easters this season.
 
In the 11th minute, Raphael Ribeiro booted in a goal to the middle of the net off a throw-in by Nile Keiller. The Leopards doubled their lead 59 seconds later as Augustin Edwin Jr. headed in a pass from Owen Jacinto. The goal was also setup by a cross from Jacob Dukeshire to Jacinto.
 
Nor'easter goalkeeper Ollie Hammond withstood a barrage of shots in the first half to keep it a two-goal game as he made seven early saves. Brendon Crichton put UNE on the board in the 29th minute with a goal off the rebound of a shot by Nick Reffel. Neither team was able to score in the second half despite combining for 17 shots with Wentworth holding a 11-6 advantage in attempts in the period.
 
Hammond finished the day with 11 saves for UNE. Louis Quintero made two stops for Wentworth.
 
The Nor'easters visits Nichols on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
