#9 Babson sets back UNE, 2-1

Statistics

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Goals in the 1st and 3rd quarters were enough for No.9 Babson College to pick up a 2-1 result versus the University of New England field hockey team on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16) at MacDowell Field.

Winners of eight in-a-row, the Beavers improve to 12-3 on the season. All but one loss for the Nor'easters (8-8) has come against a program inside the nation's top 20.

Kelsey Low netted a rebound in the 8th minute to give Babson an early edge. The hosts held the majority of possession throughout and didn't allow a shot or penalty corner until the initial stages of the 3rd, before doubling the margin in the 40th minute when Andrea Marguerite redirected a hit from Berit Sharrow.

UNE gained ground as things progressed into the 4th, and played statistically level with the Beavers in the final period. Madi Robito ended the Babson shutout bid with just eight seconds remaining, tipping home a push through traffic by Shelly Tremblay off a corner sequence.

While total shots wound up at 20-4, and corners at 12-3, not as many of the Beavers' attempts made it to Lindsay Pych, who posted five saves for the Nor'easters. On the other side, Bayla Furmanek stopped three to earn the positive decision.

UNE will return to the pitch on Saturday (12 p.m.) in Biddeford for its showdown of Commonwealth Coast Conference unbeatens with Endicott College.
